BRICS And the AfCFTA

President Cyril Ramaphosa  has said that through its chairship, SA will work with its BRICS partners to advance the African agenda for growth, development and integration and to advocate for the needs and concerns of the Global South. Although some commentators point out that it is difficult to serve two trade blocs at the same time, particularly when one bloc is trying to protect and grow a fragile manufacturing sector, while the other bloc contains the global manufacturing power. Meanwhile Egypt is pushing hard to join BRICS and has been accepted to partner on a common payments system.
