EFSA Annual General Assembly
EFSA held its AGM on the 30 March. The Forum agreed to concentrate on representation, research, education, and training in the near future. The research will concentrate on the measurement of ecommerce activities in South Africa; education and training will also include accreditation of ecommerce skills. The Secretariat is now concentrating on an MoU with the Departments of Communication and Higher Education (DCDT and DHET) to start the accreditation process. Representation of the sector is not only looking at governmental affairs but also at representing ecommerce to the banking sector.
The AGM adopted three resolutions to support this process and has agreed to draft a new strategy. The AGM also noted that EFSA had joined the South African United Business Confederation (SAUBC) on a trial basis in 2021. After considering any advantages and potential disadvantages posed by affiliation with SAUBC, the AGM decided to resign from the Confederation.
