EFA/EFSA Attended the Intra-Africa Trade Fair in Durban in November

The second edition of the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF) was held in Durban – organised by Afreximbank, the African Union (AU), and African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat. EFA and EFSA were there to meet officials from the AU and Afreximbank. We also met the SA Small Enterprises Development Agency, and we will be agreeing on an MoU with them in early 2022.

Although the Fair suffered from organizational hiccups, it generated $42.1bn in trade and investment deals according to its organisers. In terms of deals, SA, Egypt, and Nigeria were the leading countries. SA concluded a total of 94 deals at the event worth $3bn. Overall, more than 500 business deals were concluded according to the organisers.

Meanwhile, the Africa Investment Forum’s Market Days 2021, one of the biggest flagship initiatives of the African Development Bank (AfDB), hoped to attract billions of dollars in investment for strategic development projects across the continent in its meeting on 1-3 Dec. The annual forum has come to be an invaluable platform during which the Bank successfully attracts critical investment for the continent’s infrastructure, agriculture, and health care system needs among other sectors.
