European Commission Proposes an Online Dispute System for Online Purchases

The EC has proposed a European-wide platform that helps resolve disputes between consumers and European e-merchants. The Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) platform is provided by the European Commission to make online shopping safer and fairer through access to quality dispute resolution tools. Many years ago, your editor was involved in exactly the same exercise proposed by the EC and in cooperation with the EU consumers’ group, BEUC. In the end, nothing came of the initiative, but online sales were worth much less in those days.
