SA Offering Special Visas for Digital Nomads

SA’s Department of Home Affairs has gazetted proposed amendments, including the digital nomad visa, inviting public feedback until March 29. This step towards modernizing immigration laws underscores the initiative’s potential but also its pending finalization. If agreed, SA will join other African nations like Egypt, Cape Verde, Seychelles, Mauritius, and Namibia in attracting digital nomads, reflecting a continent-wide embrace of remote (gig) work trends. These countries offer unique opportunities for digital nomads, highlighting Africa’s growing appeal in the global digital economy. Announcing these changes President Ramaphosa underscored the urgency of attracting skilled individuals to propel the country’s competitiveness and economic growth.
