Amazon goes for the Fashion Labels
Amazon plans to introduce a platform for luxury fashion brands in its marketplace. Participating brands will reportedly be able to control the appearance of their sections on the site as well as their product selection and pricing, with Amazon providing them with its logistics capabilities The platform will initially roll out in the US before expanding internationally, and approximately 12 brands are already working with Amazon to be part of it, though they have not yet been named. Amazon appears set to put significant resources into this endeavour: it is reportedly opening a dedicated warehouse for the platform in Arizona and planning a $100 million marketing campaign to support it. Amazon is already a top player in apparel sales without the help of many high-end brands.
